I have four boys ranging in age from 18 to 30 years old. They are my pride and joy!

I enjoy all things literature! My favorite authors are Charlotte Bronte, Ray Bradbury, George Orwell, and Charles Dickens.

As a teacher, it is my goal to teach, inspire, and encourage my students to understand that they are capable of achieving great things and accomplishing their goals. I also hope to instill in my students a love for literature and the ability to write well and effectively.

I am so excited to be joining SC Prep, and I am looking forward to a great year!

Greetings! My name is Marty Papet. I’m very much looking forward to teaching Social Studies at SCPrep during the upcoming academic year. I am a second career educator, having first served for over 26 years as an Intelligence Officer in the U.S. Navy, before retiring from active duty in 2007. I am a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy (B.S. in Political Science), the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School (M.S. in Information Technology Management) and Liberty University where I earned both an M. Samantha Gimon

I am originally from Virginia (NOVA) but am relocating after my wedding in June. I have been teaching Middle School Social Studies for 2 years in person. I started my career in the middle of COVID and it has been a wild ride. I graduated with my Bachelors in History with a secondary teaching license from Marymount University in 2021 then transitioned straight into my Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on Applied Behavioral Analysis and graduated in December 2022. I have been an athlete my entire life, running competitively since i can remember! I started coaching my middle school team and have lead both the girls and boys team to the championship! I am excited to start this new adventure and join the SC Prep family!

Math Department

Lee Carter

6th Grade Math

I am excited to be joining SC Prep for the 2023-2024 school year! This will be my 16th year of teaching overall. I taught four years in Georgia, teaching 6th grade Math and History (so this is a return to my first subject!). Since marrying my wife, Paige, in 2012, I have taught middle school in Anderson1. I taught 7th grade math, then 7th grade world history, then worked as a math interventionist to help with COVID gaps, and finally am teaching a reading support class this year.

My wife and I have four children, all adopted. My oldest daughter graduates from high school in 2023, while I will have an 8th grader and 6th grader at SC Prep next year and a 5th grader attending online school as well. I believe that SC Prep promises to be a much better learning experience for their character development than was the brick-and-mortar school, and I also believe that the classical model will challenge them in thinking and overall rigor.

My interests outside of teaching are spending time with my family and travelling, working out, reading and drinking coffee, being involved with my church (it is a new church plant!), and starting work on a PhD in History online…
